Nick Schuster was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa and moved to Omaha to attend Creighton University and has been a resident ever since. Nick is the son, grandson and godson of veterans and is familiar with the unique needs of the military and their families. With nearly 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry and having originated and/or supervised over 1 billion dollars in home loans, Nick is an expert with VA, FHA, USDA and conventional loans. His team of friendly and knowledgeable local loan specialists are on hand to serve you, step by step, throughout the entire loan process.
Cal Thompson is a Senior Loan Officer at Veterans United Home Loans. Cal has worked in various parts of the home loan process, so he’s a knowledgeable partner to have in the homebuying journey. He has also lived in the Omaha area his entire life and has a family with a history of military service. With local knowledge and an understanding of military life, Cal is able to relate to his customers and go the extra mile for them. He’s excited to teach his homebuyers about the VA Loan benefit. Outside of work, Cal enjoys sports, traveling, video gaming and rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Jeremy, the son of two Air Force veterans, was born in Misawa Japan. At the age of 3, his family was moved to Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE where his parents proudly retired after each serving 20+ years. In 2005, Jeremy graduated from University of Nebraska-Omaha with a degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing. While at UNO, he was also a member of the football team from 2000-2005. In 2011, he also completed his MBA at William Woods University. Jeremy’s military upbringing makes him extremely passionate about educating veterans and active duty members about their earned benefits and helping get into either a new home or make the current one more affordable. He and his wife, Tatum, also a Veterans United employee, have two children – Mila and Phoenix. In his spare time, he enjoys watching college football, being active through sports, travel, and spending as much time with family as possible.
Marjory Christensen is a Loan Officer with Veterans United in Omaha. She has lived in the Omaha-metro area her whole life and is excited to give back to the Veterans in her community. Having a grandfather who served in the United States Marine Corps., Marjory knows of the unique struggles that Veterans face upon returning home. With this in mind, she hopes to build relationships with each borrower and their family to make the process as comfortable as possible. Outside of work, she is involved in various local non-profit groups, spends time with her husband and two dogs, takes care of her chickens and cheers on Iowa State Football!
Katie Lieffers is the Director of Business Development at Veterans United Home Loans in Omaha. Prior to her role at Veterans United, Katie was a Realtor and considers herself well versed in the mortgage industry. She is also understanding of military lifestyle, as her husband is an Air Force veteran and her father was in the Army. Katie prides herself on making the homebuying process as fun as possible for all her customers, military and civilian. Outside of work, Katie enjoys her friends, family and two awesome dogs.

Cindy is a Nebraska native and has been in the mortgage industry over 25 years. She has happily been a part of the VUHL team since Oct. 2015. Prior to her current role as Office Manager, Cindy has been a loan processor, underwriter, closing supervisor, & Operations Manager. As an expert of the mortgage industry, she strives to give her clients excellent customer service with integrity. In her spare time, Cindy enjoys jet skiing and relaxing with family & friends at the lake. Most important to her is family. She loves spending time with her husband Troy, daughters Carlie & Tinley along with their dogs Tater and Dexter.
Branch Loan Coordinator Ellen Wheelis comes to Veterans United Home Loans with 5 years of experience in the financial industry and is excited to pair her knowledge with her new role in the mortgage industry. Growing up with a Dad that served in the Military for over 20 years, Ellen constantly moved from base to base. She is familiar with the struggles that come with military life, and she is looking forward to helping Veterans and their families navigate the homebuying journey. Outside of work, Ellen loves spending time with her golden retriever and American shorthair cat, traveling, playing competitive sports and reading.
